Once your membership is confirmed, you will can log in and add your own solutions via the standard questionnaire that averages about 15 minutes to complete. You can save an incomplete questionnaire to return to later; you do not have to complete it in one session. Many of the questions are optional, but we encourage you to have as much information at hand about the solution as possible.
Visibility: The TEL community and visitors to the website include major anti-poverty and health care organizations as well as government agencies, students, and local entrepreneurs.
Inclusiveness: TEL welcomes all kinds of solutions: on site do-it-yourself plans, creative partnerships for local manufacture, newly developed best practices, and announcement of work still in prototype, as well as more conventionally developed and marketed products. Effectiveness and potential impact are what counts most.
Quality of information: The questionnaire, designed with input from the TEL community, captures key information that is needed by prospective users. It offers the options of linking to a webpage, uploading a short video of the solution in use, and poviding additional information or instructions.
Control over content: You, the solution provider, describe and provide your own information content. TEL staff may edit lightly for clarity, or contact you for same, but we do not write the content.
Freedom from commercial or other influence: TEL is a US charitable, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) incorporation. We have no commercial, political, religious, or national agenda. Our goal is simply to reduce poverty through propagation of sustainable, locally implemented technologies.
A level playing field: Whether developed by a farmer, worker, student or company, every solution has it's own identically formatted page. This allows end-users to compare solutions on their problem-solving merits, without the distraction of advertising.
A comprehensive, large and growing, but easily searchable "idea store": TEL covers the gamut of solutions to problems of poverty, from utility bikes to rice husk stoves to no-touch vaccination devices. Unlike a blog or newsletter format, the TEL data base has been custom designed and programmed to provide guidance and to ensure swift and accurate pin-pointing of all solutions relevant to the searcher's specific needs.
