How TEL Works:

TEL is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides a platform where the global community can share and discuss innovative, locally implemented solutions to problems of poverty and sustainability. We are a growing international network of inventors, engineers, non-profit workers, entrepreneurs, environmentalists, micro-financiers and community leaders, welcoming new members.

Solution Spotlight:

Solar Bottle Bulb

Featured solution

In places where there is little access to reliable electricity, there is still access to sunlight. The Solar Bottle Bulb utilizes recycled material and provides light equivalent to that of a standard light bulb. A plastic bottle is filled with water and bleach (which prevents microorganism growth) and then affixed into a roof. Sunlight is refracted by the water, which lights up the room!

People Make It Happen:

Last-Mile Connectivity

people image “Development moves like a turtle,” muses a resident of Palestina, Peru, a remote Amazonian village accessible only by riverboat. “Wiring the Amazon”, a short documentary by Michael Kleiman, chronicles the progress of Palestina as it struggles to connect to the outside world through satellite telephone and internet connections, accompanied by government programs to bring laptops to students in remote communities.
